It was not that long ago, well in a way it seems like yesterday that I took my kids who at the time were 7 and 12 to Epcot Center in Florida. At the time it was of our favorite theme parks, that don’t have a lot of crazy ride, and offer some educational experiences. Epcot Center has this amazing restaurant that allows you to dine while all around you huge glass panes open an underwater world of fish, turtles, and more that simulates an ocean."

I love eating, that is not my phobia, what I didn’t enjoy at the time was being enclosed in small closed in spaces.  I was suffering from claustrophobia.

"To continue with my harrowing experience at the theme park, my daughter talked me into going on a simulator ride. They come in all sizes at many theme parks, and many can fit a large group, but this particular ride fit 2 my daughter and me. When they close up the ride, the panel is right in front of your face, and you are held in place from the knees up to your shoulders by padding, and a holster.

There was no line on the ride, so I did not really have enough time to get into my full panic mode, but once they shut the door, and I could not move.

I started screaming which scared my daughter to death, but no one could hear my cries for help and escape. The ride started I am sobbing, my body is on fire, I can hardly breath, the nausea is overtaking me threatening to spill, I have my eyes closed tears streaming down my face, and I was clutching my daughters small hand so hard I don’t know how I did not break it.

I frightened my own daughter, so badly that she began to have her own fears.

What kind of parent was I?

I couldn’t do anything about my fear back then……

I felt desperate to escape, and it felt like my very life depended on it. "
