Are You A Commitment Phobic
Overcoming Commitment Phobia
Commitment Phobia is one of the most common phobias that affect people in their lives. Commitment Phobia can affect almost any part of the person’s life, but can especially affects how a person feels about becoming involved, or staying involved, in a long term relationship.
People suffering with commitment phobias, may have had a fearful or uncomfortable experience in their past where they felt out-of-control, or trapped, and now their mind has put an enormous safeguard that is actually over-protecting them from similar situations just in case something similar should ever happen again.
For some commitment phobias stem from a fear or expecting to be perfect. Of course we know that expecting perfection is an unrealistic and unachievable goal, yet fears of making a mistake can be paralyzing, and stop us from committing to many normal circumstances in our lives.
Commitment Phobia can also impact, and hamper someone’s career, and they may find it hard to move forward or advance in their chosen career, because they find it difficult to offer their employer or employers the kind of long term commitment that the employer probably wants from them.
When someone with Commitment Phobia is asked what it feels like, they will often report that it is like a fear of being stuck, jammed in or trapped in a situation, or circumstances that they fear feeling out of control in.
Treating Commitment Phobias
Treating a phobia can by surprisingly straightforward, because all that really needs to happen is for the fearful unresolved emotion, or subconscious conflict (that has been trapped in a person’s subconscious) that is paralyzing their emotions to be resolved, or removed. Once the fearful emotion is treated, or removed there’s no longer a need for the mind to protect, or try to over-protect it from the perceived danger, and the phobia will usually disappear.
Sounds strange, but overcoming commitment phobia can be done using a pretty simple technique called hypnosis. Hypnosis is exactly the tool that can help someone in overcoming commitment phobia, and resolve the phobia issue as it deals with unleashing the unconscious of unresolved fears. This will not happen overnight. A phobia treated with hypnosis takes a little time to listen to the self- hypnosis cd’s or mp3 downloads. Using it daily and staying focused will reap great rewards. Now it might sound strange telling a commitment phobic to commit to self hypnosis, but hypnosis is a proven treatment that works for phobias and has a very high cure rate.
There are no side effects, so it can’t hurt to try hypnosis, and if you or someone else you know feels that they need more than what a self hypnosis cd or mp3 download can offer, many times a trained psychologist can help. They can combine hypnosis with verbal therapy sessions to help commitment phobic’s get past their “sticking points”.
