“When I was small I remember having a horrible fear of clowns, and I can tell you exactly when it started. My family had rented a furnished house for the summer, and the room I slept in had clown pictures. Not little pictures, but life size clown pictures on three walls. The life size faces were not particularly scary, but the eyes eerily followed me everywhere I went. I took to covering my head at night with a pillow so I could sleep. I begged my mother to take the pictures down, but she refused. I eventually started sleeping on the sofa, and refused to go into the bedroom without someone else with me.” It haunts me to this day, and I guess you could say I have a phobia of clowns, says Denise.
